Jessie Ware – No To Love Remixes [EP stream]
Out of the UK’s breakout artists of 2012, Jessie Ware has felt among the most suited to and beneficial of the remix treatment. Looking back, Disclosure’s take on Running is surely one of 2012’s most instantly recognisable remixes, and played a significant part in upping the exposure of both artists. So it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that her record label have compiled an EP devoted to remixes of the regretful duet No To Love, featuring Dave Okumu of The Invisible and lifted from the debut album ‘Devotion’.
Things start off big with Hotflush associate George FitzGerald’s floor-filling contribution. It features some infectious low-end work, and made it onto Scuba’s stellar FACT mix a few weeks back. Next, electro-house veteran Ewan Pearson twists the pure sensuality of the original into something seedier; more like the pangs of regret felt when the lights come up at 5am than anything more lasting. Todd Edwards wraps things up with a beat-heavy belter, morphing Jessie’s vocal around an unwavering syncopated shuffle.
Jessie will play something of a homecoming when she performs to a sold out Electric Brixton tonight. You can (sort of) be a part of it by streaming the EP below:
