1. Honeyglaze – ‘Burglar’
Sparkling jazz-rock track ‘Burglar’ is the debut single from Honeyglaze, an upcoming trio formed out of South London’s bustling underground rock scene who cite jazz, 60s soul and 90s dream pop as influences. Released on Speedy Wunderground, the famed indie label known for launching the careers of black midi and Black Country, New Road, the group’s first offering is a sophisticated and well-measured cut mapping out their vision for the future.
2. Stoney Hoop – ‘Boss Up’
After relocating to Brooklyn in 2020, Stoney Hoop took some time off to refocus his creative energy and grow as an artist. His latest single ‘Boss Up’ is the rapper’s first release since his ‘Escapism’ album which dropped earlier in the year and shows exactly why the future has never looked brighter for the MC.
3. Liyv – ‘Let Me Know’
Probably one of the most moving tracks you’ll listen to all week, Liyv’s ‘Let Me Know’ is a message to her younger self giving her permission to want a better life. Casting her angelic melodies atop a series of spell-binding piano keys, the singer unearths the abuse she suffered from her mother when she was a child and leaves a lasting impact with her ghostly, ethereal sound.
4. Ceteropsin – ‘Wait Signs’
Aiming to bridge the gap between fine and folk art, New York based composer and producer Ceteropsin’s meticulous soundscapes draw inspiration from a wide variety of genres and research. ‘Wait Signs’ is a cut from his recent album ‘My Library Is Filled With Backbeats’ and enlists Fly Anakin to overlay the dizzying instrumental with his hip hop flows.
5. August Charles – ‘Blessed’
A reflection on past times of struggle and disappointment, August Charles’ soul-fuelled single ‘Blessed’ is an introspective dive into the rising artist’s life as he embarks on a brand new chapter. Created in collaboration with Gabriel Gifford, the track couldn’t come at a better time.
