The 10 best new records, according to Alexander Nut

  1. HAWTHORN HEADHUNTERS TELEPORT
It’s been a while since I heard from either Black Spade or Coultrain, so it’s great to have them on a new project together. This single is produced by Devonwho, and it’s pretty damn nice, and the video is dope too. I had this track on repeat for about two days straight.
  2. JAI PAUL JASMINE
The mysterious Jai Paul never fails to tug on your heart strings and hit all the right spots. Can’t wait till he comes out of his cupboard and drops a full length release. The production is nice and fuzzy, just how I like it.
  3. MOODYMANN HOLD IT DOWN
Moodymann drops a rather brilliant EP, released as a free download via Scion. Some serious musicianship and instrumentation provided throughout. You can’t beat a Moodymann vocal either.
  4. THEESATISFACTION DO YOU HAVE TIME
These two are great [and make] nice lo-fi soul / hip hop released on the legendary Sub Pop label. Everyone loves a song about smoking weed.
  5. ACTION BRONSON POUCHES OF TUNA
Filth-mouthed fat man always coming correct over dope beats. This one features Roc Marciano too, who is another one of my favourites.
  6. THE INVISIBLE THE STAIN
The new Invisible album is wicked, super fuzzy and dubbed out. You can get lost in this record. One of the best bands in ages.
  7. JAY ELECTRONICA DEAR MOLESKINE
Jay’s words speak volumes to me. Most of the rappers I hear these days sound like advertising agencies, [but] Jay speaks the truth. The world needs Jay Electronica, he’s a modern day prophet.
  8. THE INTERNET LOVE SONG
Syd tha Kid of Odd Future has made a brilliant album of lo-fi computer loves songs. Recommended.
  9. ACTRESS JARDIN
The whole of Actress’s new ‘R.I.P.’ album is great, it completely puts me in a zone. For me, this is his best creation so far. I love it.
  10. THE ABSTRACT EYE GRANDFATHER FIRE
This is the latest record we put out on Eglo, I’m super proud to be able to release such a brilliant record. It’s by LA’s Gifted & Blessed under his Abstract Eye moniker – it’s not music that really fits into a box or genres, it’s just a beautiful creation.

Listen to Alexander’s selections via the playlist below, minus the last one as it wasn’t on YouTube, and catch him at Dalston festival Land Of Kings this weekend.
