10 Best Tracks For the End Of the Night according to Jeshi

The rapper on the nostalgic tracks that soundtrack the moment everything slows down and the sun comes up.

Jeshi has always lived somewhere between the rap booth and the dancefloor. The Walthamstow artist first stumbled into club culture as a teenager, hopping out to Essex to find rooms that felt like another world, long before he had an ID to get him through the door. Now he’s turning that love into 'Headrush', a mixtape inspired by nightlife and the clubs where he discovered dance music, landing 26 October via Select Discs / Partisan Records.

It follows a busy 18 months of collaborations with Celeste, Leon Vynehall, Vegyn and Ross From Friends, and the latest single ‘linea rossa’ with Cameo Blush. To mark the release, we asked Jeshi for his 10 favourite tracks for the end of the night.

"These are my 10 favourite tracks for the end of the night, when everything slows down and the sun starts coming up," Jeshi told DMY. "They all feel really nostalgic to me and take me back to simpler moments in my life."

Here’s what’s soundtracking his 6am.

1. Ghostpoet - Cash and Carry Me Home

"Makes me feel anxious and nostalgic at the same time. I love the brutal, raw honesty in its portrayal of self-destruction."

2. Mount Kimbie - Carbonated

"Nothing quite captures the feeling of walking home in the early hours after a night out like this."

3. SBTRKT - Hold On (feat. Sampha)

"Captures one of my favourite times in life. Always takes me back to being on Mare Street in 2013."

4. Actress - I Can't Forgive You

"So dark and eerie, always makes me feel emotional."

5. Leon Vynehall - Movements (Chapter III)

"Feels like a memory captured in a song."

6. The Streets - Weak Become Heroes

"Mike Skinner has always been one of my favourite songwriters. This feels like the moment the night starts slowing down."

7. Andy Stott - Faith In Strangers

"Feels so beautiful and so unsettling; the perfect wig out."

8. James Blake - If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead

"Blows my mind how he even made this. I still remember hearing it for the first time and it baffles me to this day."

9. Nookie - Only You

"My favourite kind of jungle. Insane drums yet still so beautiful and sad, the piano and vocal get me every time."

10. Moodymann - Wednesday Night People

"Super hypnotic. I love how human he’s always made house music feel."
