Alt-pop star purpl shares vulnerable new single 'Morphine'

"This song is about loving someone deeply whose struggling with their mental health..."

Following a pace-setting 2021, Bristol-based alt-pop talent purpl has been upping the ante this year with a number of new singles, most recently sharing her most honest track to date, ‘Morphine’.

The dark and vulnerable track is the next instalment from purpl’s longstanding partnership with boyfriend and co-producer zeph, after one of the pair’s previous link up’s ‘2 LATE’ made it into our BRAND NEW Tracks of the Week selection back in October.

Awash with honest, soul-bearing lyrics and contagious melodies, the rising songstress taps into the complicated emotions that are often too hard to break down into words.“This song is about loving someone deeply whose struggling with their mental health and wanting to do anything and everything you can for them, but learning you have to be patient and understanding above all else,” says purpl.

Defining her world by way of colour, purpl has taught herself to use her synaesthesia as a tool in the creative process of her music, with purple becoming a constant feature in the music she creates. Since releasing her debut single ‘You Know’ back in 2018, the UK vocalist has quickly amassed a loyal fan base and some impressive momentum going into summer 2022. For fans of The 1975, Sade, Fleetwood Mac and BANKS, purpl is certainly one to watch as the year develops.
