Yarni Signs to DMY, Announces EP and Releases New Single
Sheffield multi-instrumentalist Yarni has signed to DMY for his new EP 'Little Island' and kicked off the campaign with a lush new single, also called 'Little Island'.
Wind chimes and atmospheric production set the scene of a breezy summer's day in 'Little Island', before Yarni layers electric keys and sweet strings to build out the track's world.
Over the four minutes and thirteen seconds, 'Little Island' acts almost as a living, breathing thing, constantly shape-shifting, growing and expanding. The track crescendoes at the two and a half minute mark as Yarni invites listeners to dance, move, feel.
In less than a decade of producing and performing, and across four albums, countless EPs and a string of live dates Yarni (Benjamin Harris to his nearest and dearest) has covered more sonic terrain than other equally open-minded musicians do in an entire career.
He describes his sound as "a sonic melting pot of electronica, jazz, funk and rock" and this is reflected in the editorial playlist support he has received on previous releases - everything from 'Jazz Funk' and 'Balearic Beats' to 'DISCOLAND' and 'Soulful' on Spotify.
Unsurprisingly, his releases have been praised by tier one tastemakers from Andrew Weatherall and DJ Harvey to Luke Una and Gilles Peterson.
A prolific collaborator, he has worked with the likes of Fat Freddy's Drop and Give Me Monaco in the past. 'Little Island' is a collaboration with up-and-coming songwriter Emily Marks, their second track together after 2022 single 'Hold'.
