Melbourne-born, LA-based artist, producer and DJ Banoffee has lived many lives at once - pop hook-writer, underground party starter, dancefloor obsessive - and this mix for DMY finds them stitching everything together.
Landing just ahead of new EP 'Muscles' (out 25th September via Banoffee's own return to solo songwriting, production and vocals), the mix arrives soaked in the same restless, nocturnal energy that runs through lead single 'Moth On My Mouth': juddering percussion, chopped-up vocals and melodies that glint like headlights on wet asphalt.
After three years off making records, spent instead running their cult LA club night Loose, Banoffee returns with their ears tuned firmly to the floor, creating an exclusive mix for DMY.
"Starting to release music again, I’m ready to share my chaotic way of making music in the club. I’m a big believer in mashing pop into rave sets, hard mutes and heavy grit mixed into delicate moments," Banoffee tells DMY. "All my sets are chaotic and genre diverse which is how I make music. I want my dance floor to be unpredictable, focused on taste instead of a flow state. The songs I’ve picked are a selection of things I listen to on any given day and believe are worthy of a mosh pit all in different ways."
