Manchester-based DJ and producer Lo5ive recently announced himself to the world with his debut single ‘Matter of Time’, a surefire party anthem sampling Chicago house and soul legend Kim English’s 2002 hit ‘Treat Me Right’. Shifting gears through UK garage, breakbeats, grime and hip-hop while demonstrating an ear for rare samples that can be transformed into dance floor heaters, the rising selector used his time studying Creative Music Tech at Salford University to start up his own party collective among like-minded music fanatics.
Now setting his sights on making the kind of indelible stamp on electronic music that his inspirations Four Tet and Caribou have managed over their respective careers, Lo5ive helms the latest Dummy mix in our series: “It’s a collection of tunes that I typically play in my DJ sets,” he says. “With this mix, I wanted to showcase all of my influences and inspirations across multiple genres. It was about trying to find the pockets and ways to blend smoothly between them while maintaining the vibe and staying true to my taste.”
