beabadoobee Shares Nostalgic New Single ‘Memories’
beabadoobee has shared ‘Memories’, the latest single from her forthcoming album 'Pylon', due for release on 18 September via Dirty Hit / Interscope Records.
Describing it as “one of the happiest songs on the album”, Bea says the track explores the tendency to romanticise the past, and the sadness that can come with holding onto memories that no longer exist. “I wish they were just moments I lived in forever,” she explains.
That tension between happiness and melancholy runs throughout 'Pylon', which sees beabadoobee take a more raw and emotionally exposed approach to songwriting. Written largely alone in hotel rooms, the album brought her back to the experience of writing as a teenager in her bedroom, with the record moving between rock, loneliness, anger, euphoria and romantic obsession.
‘Memories’ recently made its live debut during beabadoobee’s US shows, including sets at Lollapalooza and Hinterland, as well as a headline performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
She has also announced two intimate London release shows around the album’s arrival: at Circuit in Kingston on 15 September and Hackney Church on 18 September. The dates precede her biggest tour to date, with the Powerlines Tour kicking off in North America on 1 October before travelling across the UK and Europe, including a headline show at London’s O2 Arena.
'Memories' is out now via Dirty Hit / Interscope Records.
