corto.alto Teams Up With Jacob Alon On New Single ‘NOBLEHILL’
Glasgow producer and multi-instrumentalist corto.alto has shared ‘NOBLEHILL’, a new collaboration with Scottish singer-songwriter Jacob Alon and the final preview of his forthcoming album 'SOME SMALL FORTUNE'.
The track draws on themes of family, memory and place, reflecting on the changes in Shortall’s life after his parents moved out of the family home and he rediscovered old photographs from his childhood.
‘NOBLEHILL’ follows a run of singles that have showcased the breadth of 'SOME SMALL FORTUNE', from the Jersey club-inflected ‘THIEF’ to the hip-hop of ‘WHODIS’ featuring Mick Jenkins and the soulful ‘APRIL’ with anaiis. The album also features contributions from Vector, BINA., Oscar Jerome, Terra Kin and Eriff, alongside Shortall’s Glasgow collaborators.
Due 4 September via Ninja Tune, 'SOME SMALL FORTUNE' finds corto.alto continuing to blur the lines between electronic music, jazz, hip-hop, soul and classical composition. The album follows his Mercury Prize-nominated debut Bad With Names and 2024’s 30-track '30/108'.
