FM EXPERIMENT Rewire the Icarus Myth on Hypnotic New Single ‘FLY’

Jazz-tronica trio blur ambition and restraint in a trance-like meditation.

International trio FM EXPERIMENT return with 'Fly,' a simmering, introspective cut lifted from their forthcoming concept album 'Icarus'. Built on their signature fusion of live improvisation and electronic texture, the track finds the band operating in a space that’s as groove-led as it is philosophically charged.

Formed at Berklee, the trio - comprised of Flo Mavridorakis, Warren Pettey and Francesco Stacciolli - continue to stretch their hybrid sound, folding jazz, hip-hop, afrobeat and electronica into something fluid yet tightly controlled. Following their debut 'Shades' and improvised releases, 'Imperfections' and 'The Figueroa Beat Tape,' now 'Fly' signals a deeper conceptual turn.

Reimagining the Icarus myth, the track pivots on a simple but striking question: what if he chose not to fall? That tension plays out in hypnotic rhythms, layered synths and expressive guitar work, anchored by intricate, propulsive drums. It’s music that feels expansive without losing its centre.

With contributions from poet Valerie Hill woven into the wider project, 'Icarus' promises a fully immersive world.

'FLY' is out now.
