John Alone's R&B cut 'On The Run' is about dishonesty in relationships
East London-based R&B/soul vocalist John Alone has kicked off his 2021 with ‘On The Run’ featuring rapper Kway.
Premiered by Mixtape Madness on Monday, ‘On The Run’ is the latest addition to our series of DMY Artists releases. Featuring distorted guitars and a l0w-slung hip-hop beat, John’s distinctive vocal pierces through alongside Kway’s laidback musings.
“It’s basically just a song about two people who want very very different things and aren’t being honest about it. Aka #Pain music,” John Alone says.
The track follows last year’s EP ‘Spanish Blue’, a record that laid out parallels between John Alone’s style and Frank Ocean and SZA.
We caught up with John to find out a bit more about his sound, style and future plans – read the interview here.
