Los Bitchos Announce Collaborative New Album 'Los Bitchos & Friends Vol 1'
London-based trio Los Bitchos have announced their third album, 'Los Bitchos & Friends Vol 1', set for release on 13 November via GREAT! Records in association with !K7 Music. Alongside the announcement, they have shared new single ‘Holding Cell’, featuring King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s Ambrose Kenny-Smith.
Built around Los Bitchos’ signature driving riffs, ‘Holding Cell’ pairs the band’s instrumental grooves with Kenny-Smith’s distinctive vocals before building into a widescreen wall of psychedelic guitars. It follows ‘Hang Up (Pt 2)’, which featured Sinkane and Black Pumas guitarist Adrian Quesada.
The new album sees Los Bitchos expand their long-established instrumental approach by inviting a range of collaborators into their world. Across nine tracks, the band treat vocals less as a traditional songwriting device and more as another texture within their music, drawing on the freeform approach of artists such as Cocteau Twins’ Elizabeth Fraser.
That collaborative spirit has long been central to Los Bitchos’ sound. Formed by Western Australian guitarist Serra Petale, Swedish bassist Josefine Jonsson and South London-born drummer Nic Crawshaw, the trio have spent the past decade blending cumbia, Latin rhythms, rock, pop and Turkish psychedelia across albums including 2022’s 'Let The Festivities Begin!' and 2024’s 'Talkie Talkie'.
'Los Bitchos & Friends Vol 1' takes that melting-pot approach a step further, bringing together artists from across their musical orbit. Alongside Kenny-Smith, Sinkane and Quesada, the album features New York-based Chicha Libre, Simon Burke of The Meltdown and Turkish vocalist Kit Sebastian.
For Los Bitchos, the record represents a natural progression rather than a departure from their instrumental roots. “It felt like a very natural progression,” bassist Josefine Jonsson explains, as the band looked for a way to introduce something new while retaining the collaborative spirit that has shaped their career.
