Main Phase Joins Nervous Horizon With ‘Chosen One’ EP
Copenhagen’s Main Phase has joined the Nervous Horizon roster with his new EP, ‘Chosen One’, a three-track release that sits between the sound he’s known for and the style he’s been developing.
Across UK garage, techno and house, the EP moves easily between sonic worlds. Opener ‘Creep Into My Mind’ is an anthemic house cut built around a soulful, earworm vocal. The title track is a bass-heavy, 4x4-leaning rinse-out made for the floor.
The standout collaboration closes the record. ‘Take Time’ features Logan, the Willesden-based MC also known as ‘The Big Sound Boy’, who has been working his way through grime’s underground and clash scene since 2017. The track nods to old-school UK funky and amapiano, and Logan’s raw delivery cuts against Main Phase’s clinical production, giving it a different energy from the rest of the EP.
It’s another turn for a producer who has never stayed in one lane. Main Phase has built a name for left-of-centre, heads-down sets drawn from house, techno, garage, jungle and dubstep, with bookings from Fabric to Panorama Bar and Boiler Room. He also runs the ATW Records imprint with Interplanetary Criminal, alongside releases on other key labels.
'Chosen One' is out now via Nervous Horizon.
