Optic Core's frenetic breakbeat project 'otherworld' draws from the video games of his youth
Enigmatic producer Optic Core delivered a brand new body of work over the Christmas period titled 'otherworld'.
Having produced for multiple popular artists such as XXXTENTACION, Night Lovell, Lil Peep and more as a member of the cult music collective Red Mirror, the multi-faceted electronic artist/producer knows how to leave a lasting impression when it comes to left-field sound design and world building.
2022 saw Optic Core and fellow producer Fifty Grand gain some serious traction with their moody drum 'n' bass offering 'Differen't Places', with 'otherworld' landing just before the new year to mark the end of a pace-setting 12 months.
“The general scope of this project, titled otherworld, is heavily inspired from the ambient atmospheres, OST's, art direction and themes presented in games (specifically) like Silent Hill and Resident Evil - games that have had an influence on myself and my music since I was young," says Optic Core about his latest project.
"The titles are essentially call backs to various things from said games," he continues. "The goal was to create similar atmospheres that feel nostalgic and twist them into higher tempo drum 'n' bass/jungle-like tunes with a more broken/glitchy feeling, yet still having a consistent rhythmic flow in each song.”
