Premiere: Soft As Snow - Black Birds

Following the very excellent Glass Body, here's another track lifted from the first EP incoming from London-based, Norway-bred duo Soft As Snow. Black Birds could have come out as a fairly straight-forward piece of Scandi-pop, but in the same vein as the moreish clip-clopping garage beat leading Glass Body, there's some real oomph behind its layered rhythms, and it doesn't half cook up a storm in the last few minutes. It's these elements that reveal why Houndstooth feels like a neat fit for Soft As Snow, and the links in sound with finely detailed electronic pop-pers Saa are plain to see: even if you put aside their shared Norwegian heritage, the fact that Saa's Asher Levitas remixed Halo Heart, or that Saa's debut EP was released via Houndstooth labelmate Throwing Snow's Left Blank imprint.
