Pure X - Things In My Head

Dummy have been admirers of Texan psych rockers Pure X for some time now, in fact we interviewed them back in 2011, and also nagged them for a list of their favourite SXSW eateries last spring. So we’re rather pleased to hear that the trio will follow up impressive debut ‘Pleasure’ with ‘Crawling Up The Stairs’ in May.

To coincide with the news, here’s the first listen to a track off the album, in the shape of Things In My Head. The first thing to note is that while ‘Pleasure’ cuts like Twisted Mirror were buried beneath thick layers of guitar fuzz and woozy reverb (albeit with excellent results), Things In My Head is rather more upfront fair. This greater clarity means that the far-off organ blasts and acoustic guitar allow room for Jesse Jenkins’ tricksy falsetto to fully work its sun-sizzled magic. Stream below.
