Rachel Chinouriri Unveils 'Make believe', A New Single From Her Second Album

The single explores self-worth and obsession in relationships.

Rachel Chinouriri has shared 'Make believe', the second single from her second album 'I think I spoke too soon', due 16th October via Parlophone Records.

A darkly shimmering cut, 'Make believe' sits at odds with its surface appeal. "Make believe is about a side to me that I believe to be empowering, but really I'm masking my insecurities and betraying my self worth with obsession," Rachel explains. "Though it's more sensual feeling, it's actually about never holding my own boundaries and allowing someone who clearly hates me to have access to me at any moment."

It follows lead single 'One song away from crying', the glossy synth-pop opener to an album built around a single, transformative night out, a record Rachel describes as an exploration of splintering into endless possible versions of yourself, and the permission to forgive and change at any moment. 'I think I spoke too soon' picks up where her critically acclaimed 2024 debut 'What A Devastating Turn of Events' left off, pushing her alt-indie-pop sound into new territory.

The single arrives amid a packed year for the London artist, who's currently on a limited run of global headline shows, performed at Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields Festival alongside Chappell Roan and Doechii, and will support Gracie Abrams' North American arena tour this December. She's also been announced as musical guest on SNL UK's 26th September episode, alongside host Amelia Dimoldenberg.
