Saint Jude enlists Fredwave for immersive new single 'Garden'
Revealing his first new music of 2022, South London artist and producer Saint Jude today shares his latest single ‘Garden’, featuring Fredwave.
The rising talent – real name Jude Woodhead – has spent the last few years developing an off-kilter and distinctively UK sound, garnering comparisons to the likes of Mount Kimbie, Joy Orbison and James Blake, while staying true to his own artistic vision.
Spliced with post-dubstep production techniques, undulating synths and Woodhead’s opaque vocals, his latest offering channels the thumping intensity of noise-rock to helm a sound fitting for his return.
Despite starting out as a promising instrumental, ‘Garden’ remained dormant in the studio until Fredwave lent his vocals and the rest fell into place.
“Working with Fred is always inspiring,” Jude says of the collaboration. “He’s got a sick energy to make music with.”
Through the new single, and the body of tracks that are yet to be released from his upcoming project, Saint Jude repurposes tropes from an endless conveyor belt of genres; threading punk, dub, electronica and hip-hop through a skeleton of sounds relating to his South London home.
“Garden is a by-product of a few trips across London, two dreams colliding and failure to find a resolution on my behalf,” Fredwave adds.
