Samia Breaks the Spell on Haunting New Album 'Bloodless'
Samia has today unveiled 'Bloodless', her third and most conceptually rich album to date, out now via Grand Jury Music.
The follow-up to 2023’s 'Honey' - which won a Libera Award and firmly established her as one of indie’s most affecting voices - 'Bloodless' marks a bold deepening of Samia’s emotional palette.
Written and recorded between North Carolina and her new home in Minneapolis, 'Bloodless' reunites Samia with longtime collaborators Caleb Wright (The Happy Children) and Jake Luppen (Hippo Campus), along with songwriting partners Christian Lee Hutson and Raffaella. The result is a raw, layered body of work that dives headlong into identity, projection, and the quiet violences of growing up in the shadow of idealised masculinity.
“I’ve spent the past two decades unintentionally conflating an abstract idea of men with my understanding of God,” Samia explains. 'Bloodless' unpicks this conflation track by track—challenging the symbolic expectations that shaped her sense of self, and gently piecing together the person buried underneath.
Across 13 tracks, Samia explores the cost of becoming a vessel for other people’s desires, culminating in a cathartic reclaiming of her own narrative. The album is already resonating with fans across the UK, where her sold-out in-store tour continues with stops in Bristol, Liverpool, Leeds, Nottingham, and a double show at London’s Rough Trade East on 1st May.
At once ghostly and grounded, 'Bloodless' is Samia’s most emotionally incisive work yet - a stunning testament to unlearning, unmasking, and embracing the messy fullness of being alive.
'Bloodless' is out now via Grand Jury Music.
