SINK Surfaces with Hypnotic New Single ‘Shallow’ Ahead of Debut Album

London electronic artist teases the introspective, genre-blurring world of 'Flaw State' with a new release.

London-based alternative electronic artist SINK unveils his spellbinding new single 'Shallow', out now. His debut album 'Flaw State' is due 9th May.

The track, which is equal parts dreamlike and disorienting, is a masterclass in emotional electronic production, confirming SINK as a rising force in the UK’s experimental pop scene.

'Shallow' grapples with modern overstimulation and the elusive nature of rest, using lush synth textures, glitchy beats and haunting falsetto vocals to explore the idea of ‘shallowness’—whether in the speed of city life or the surface-level calm of nature. Balancing fragility and distortion, the track is a push-pull between serenity and chaos, described by SINK as “the struggle to seek balance, in a world of hyperboles and extremes.”

The single follows a string of acclaimed releases on Olafur Arnalds’ OPIA Community and Max Cooper’s Mesh imprint, and arrives just ahead of support dates with Erased Tapes mainstay Rival Consoles. Engineered by Nick Smart (Mammal Hands) and mixed by Cristiano Nicolini, 'Shallow' stands as a powerful preview of what’s to come.

'Flaw State' promises a deeply personal journey shaped over two years in SINK's South-East London studio, featuring collaborations with experimental luminaries like Rival Consoles, Siobhán McCafferty (violin), and Robert Murray Jamieson (bass clarinet). A genre-defying blend of alt-pop, impressionism, and ambient electronica, the album celebrates imperfection, moving “between horror and beauty,” as SINK puts it.

With live shows and film scores also on the horizon, including a collaboration with Black Mirror composer Adam Janota Bzowski, SINK is poised for a breakthrough. 'Shallow' is just the beginning.

'Shallow' is out now via Foolish Beavers and AWAL.
