Listen to SOPHIE's previously unreleased BIPP b-side 'UNISIL'

"‘Unisil’ is a reference to the silicone production and curing process, and the hard, fast, and synthetic sound"

Recently it was revealed that Autechre had remixed SOPHIEs 2013 single ‘BIPP’ for a new release on Numbers.

Now, the b-side to that release has been shared; a previously-unreleased SOPHIE track named ‘UNISIL’. Featuring a clunking hip-hop beat and some worming synths, it’s pure industrial mayhem.

The accompanying release text states that it was a track created by SOPHIE during the recordings for ‘PRODUCT‘ but until now never given a full release.

“The story goes that it was sent out as a digital bonus to the lucky people who managed to buy the Limited Edition Silicone Product version of the record. ‘Unisil’ is a reference to the silicone production and curing process, and the hard, fast, and synthetic sound, not far from the sounds heard on the 2005 Autechre Live Show recording, and so that cycle of influences completes.”

Stream ‘UNISIL’ below via YouTube and Bandcamp.
