SOULS Links Up With House Legend Robert Owens On 'Through the Storm'

The new track channels Balearic influences

British producer/composer SOULS (David Gledhill) has teamed up with Chicago house legend Robert Owens for the summer-ready tune 'Through the Storm.'

Veteran DJ/producer/singer Robert's powerful vocals open the song, before strings and a sunset house beat instantly transport us to the shores of Ibiza. Although lyrically melancholic, the upbeat groove is instantly reminiscent of warm days on the white isle, watching the sun dip behind the shoreline.

David says: "I came up with the idea for the music for 'Through the Storm’ during a family holiday to Ibiza. I was listening to The Woodentops & Massive Attack and I wanted to make a track that was sonically melancholic but with an upbeat groove. Just strings and drums. And then when Robert Owens added the emotional lyrics and his extraordinary voice, it just felt so right.”

The track is accompanied by a music video that mixes sun-soaked footage from David's own trips to the Spanish island with clips of Robert Owens, who is bathed in a red glow as he sings as if illuminated by a setting sun.

'Through the Storm' isn't the only collaboration we will see between SOULS and Robert Owens. On SOULS' upcoming third album, ‘ELECTRONIC STATES’, Robert provides the lead vocal for another track. The new record, which is due out in May, is a sonic and visual celebration of David's love of Balearic music, and his second home of Ibiza. In fact, it was recorded both on the island and in David's seaside UK home in Deal.
