The Love Experiment Ask the Big Question on “Who’s Gonna Save the World”

NYC’s future-soul collective return with a groove-heavy anthem of reflection and defiance

New York’s genre-bending collective The Love Experiment are back with 'Who’s Gonna Save the World,' a fiery new single dropping September 5 via Tokyo’s SWEET SOUL RECORDS. The track, lifted from their forthcoming album 'Velvet,' combines raw funk grooves with cosmic textures, carving out a sound that’s as thought-provoking as it is dance-inducing.

Written and refined over several years, the single channels both the urgency of global crises and the possibility of personal transformation. Drummer and producer Charles Burchell frames it as “an anthem of self-reflection, reminding us that true revolution starts within, and the frequency we carry can shape the world around us.” That spirit is carried by J. Hoard’s soaring, soul-charged vocals, counterbalanced by Burchell’s rap alter ego Karnival Kid, whose verses inject grit and defiance into the mix.

The Love Experiment have built a reputation for forward-thinking artistry, weaving together the traditions of soul, funk and hip hop with a futuristic edge. Their latest offering is no exception, nodding to contemporaries like Anderson .Paak, Adi Oasis and Silk Sonic while maintaining a singular voice rooted in New York’s deep musical lineage. Collectively, members of the group have shared stages with the likes of Lauryn Hill, Anderson .Paak and Solange, a testament to their versatility and pedigree.

Behind the release is SWEET SOUL RECORDS, a Tokyo-based label dedicated to pushing authentic and boundary-breaking soul music across borders. Their collaboration with The Love Experiment reflects a shared belief in music’s power to connect, inspire and endure.

With 'Who’s Gonna Save the World,' The Love Experiment deliver both a rallying cry and a groove-laden invitation to reflect. It’s a statement that sets the stage for 'Velvet' - an album poised to be their most defining work to date.

'Who's Gonna Save the World' is out now via SWEET SOUL RECORDS.
