London-based psych-pop talent Wonderprince shares his brand new debut EP ‘Path Through The Trees’.
Shortly after sharing his first release of the year back in October with ‘In The Clouds’, the rising musician continues to hone his unique style with this new body of work, splicing old school psychedelia with modern themes aimed towards the youth of today.
Spanning across four tracks, each song presents a distinct sonic landscape and offers a dreamlike escape through a maze of textures and melodies. Speaking on the origin of the project, Wonderprince tells us: “These songs were inspired by the worlds that we escape into through our dreams and the ways we find ourselves through them”.
The EP features his first two singles, ‘In The Clouds’ and ‘Ordinary People’, as well as introducing a pair of previously unheard cuts. Mining the edges of woozy alt-pop icons such as Mac DeMarco and Connan Mockasin, ‘Numb’ is a laid back crooner flexing Wonderprince’s penchant for writing infectious hooks and melodies.
Closing the project, title track ‘Path Through The Trees’ has the feeling of a Beatles classic, opening up with some piano chords before erupting into a bevvy of jangle pop.
