Yung Lean Reimagines Robyn's 2005 Track 'Robotboy'

A deeply personal perspective is added to a fan favourite.

Yung Lean has shared a new take on Robyn’s beloved 2005 track ‘Robotboy’, originally produced by Klas Åhlund, with the new version arranged by Robyn and Patrik Berger.

The reimagining came about after a conversation between the longtime friends and collaborators in their shared hometown of Stockholm. Lean felt a strong connection to the song’s titular character and was compelled to record his own interpretation.

Lean's version is raw and intimate, bringing a distinctly melancholic edge to the track while retaining the emotional pull of the original. It reflects the longstanding creative relationship between the two artists, who grew up in the same Stockholm neighbourhood, Södermalm, before forging their own singular paths in contemporary music.

Reflecting on Yung Lean’s rendition of 'Robotboy,' Robyn says: "I asked Jonatan if he wanted to record his version of Robotboy because I just craved hearing his interpretation of this sad song. I think it was made for you J, the lyrics turn to gold in your version, like you are singing this lullaby to a previous version of yourself 🖤”
