Atoms For Peace - Judge Jury Executioner

The latest single from Thom Yorke's new project features rumbling percussion and familiar falsetto swoons.

We’ve already got acquainted with the sugar-high convulsions of Default – now here’s the latest release from Thom Yorke and Flea’s LA supergroup, Atoms For Peace.

Judge Jury Executioner (clearly a favourite phrase/theme of Yorke’s – it was the bracketed title for ‘Hail To The Thief’ cut Myxamatosis) occupies a more organic space than Default. Handclaps, tip-tapping percussion and acoustic guitar twangs rise as Yorke reflects on some fleeting emotional state or sensation: “Don’t worry baby, it goes right through me”. While something of a Yorke staple, the multi-layered vocals that encircle this are as undeniably transcendant as ever.

Judge Jury Executioner is the second taster from forthcoming album ‘Amok’. Audiovisual artist Tarik Barri has put together a video to accompany the single, which you can stream below.

XL Recordings will release ‘Amok’ on 25th February, with Judge Jury and Executioner following as a 12” single on 11th March
