Grimes drops surprise DJ mix album as her Cyberpunk 2077 character

It's an exclusive on Apple Music "cuz they generously cleared the samples 4 me".

Grimes has released a surprise album in the character of Lizzy Wizzy, a cyborg pop star she voices in the new Cyberpunk 2077 game.

“This story is dedicated to all those cyberpunks who fight against injustice and corruption every day of their lives! (DJ Mix)” is a compilation album featuring club remixes of tracks from Grimes’ ‘Miss Anthropocene’ album, as well as music from friends and collaborators.

Spanning a wide selection of sounds from electro, hip-hop and indie pop, to techno, punk and beyond, the project also features re-imagined versions of Rihanna’s ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’, Ariana Grande’s ‘Into You’, and a unique mashup of Kendrick Lamar and The Ramones.

The 32 year-old features in the dystopian video game as the pop star Lizzy Wizzy, a cyborg with pink hair who is one of the game’s “top celebrities”, according to Cyberpunk Wiki.

Grimes posted on Instagram, writing: “The cyborg popstar I play in Cyberpunk 2077 just released an album! Link in bio (Music by Grimes and friends) For now only on Apple Music cuz they generously cleared the samples 4 me”.

The musician sent social media into meltdown earlier in the year after she announced her and partner Elon Musk had named their child ‘X Æ A-12’.
