Jay Z's Roc Nation helped Marcus Rashford win his free school meals campaign
Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford was helped by Jay Z’s agency with his free school meals campaign victory, which caused the UK government to make a major U-turn in policy.
Although the footballer headed up the campaign, Roc Nation Sports revealed that Rashford has been signed with them since April, and will represent him off-pitch moving forwards.
As reported by The Telegraph, Jay Z gave praise to Rashford to say how “extremely proud” he was of his efforts.
In a statement, Roc Nation said that “the representation is strictly off-field, encompassing philanthropy, PR and marketing, communications, digital strategy and commercial partnerships.”
Rashford’s signing is the latest in Roc Nation Sports’ move in to football. Along with rumours that the Jay Z-founded agency has been speaking to Rashford since 2016, Roc Nation has also signed deals for the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne.
It’s not the first time Jay Z has been involved in philanthropy; recently it emerged that his and Meek Mill’s Reform Alliance initiative were sending nearly 100,000 surgical masks to correctional facilities across the US.
