Premiere: Glass Animals - Pools (Kwes Remix)

The night-tinged Oxfordshire four-piece get led astray on this colourful rework by the Warp producer.

Oxfordshire's Glass Animals make folk-tinged pop that has something of the night about it, which has been flagged up on these pages several times before. They released their debut album 'ZABA' on Wolf Tone last month, and follow it with the 'Pools' EP later in July, set to feature Roosevelt, Jackson & His Computer Band and Kwes on remix duty (as well as Glass Animal's take on Kanye West's Love Lockdown). Here's the Warp off-pop artist's take on Pools, which is as deft and gently transformative as recent remixes of Tom Vek and Tev'n have been. Starting out with the satisfying ker-ching of an old cash register, Kwes places added slap and thrust under Pools' earthy melody, leading it astray down Kwes' colourful production paths.

Wolf Tone released 'ZABA' on June 9th 2014 (buy).
