Jim Legxacy reps Lewisham in visual for icy new single 'dj'

Today, South East London’s very own Jim Legxacy shares a brand new single and music video titled ‘dj’.

One of the most creative and experimental artists coming out of the capital right now, the Lewisham-hailing talent has been on an impressive run of late, following up his first release of the year ‘Eye Tell (!)’ with ‘hit it light it twist it’, ‘candy reign (!)’ and now his latest slice of magic.

On May’s ‘hit it light it twist it’, Legxacy re-used a line from Skepta‘s 2015 diss track ‘Nasty’ – a tactic he’s deployed again on the new single, lifting a snippet from Unknown T’s ‘Homerton B’ and dropping it on the track’s mellow production and emo guitar lines.

Despite cutting his teeth as a rapper, the Londoner has gone on to become a multi-faceted artist, shedding his reputation as a teenage prodigy to step into his very own creative lane. ‘dj’ shows everything he’s about, splicing his unique melodic style with off-kilter beats and references to other hit tracks, helming a sound that is totally unique to himself.

Directed and produced by fidel, the cinematic music video sees Legxacy proudly represent his home borough, posting up outside well known Lewisham spots, such as Morley’s and the local shopping centre, with his group of friends.
