Blood Orange Extends the Essex Honey Universe With New Single 'Essex_Honey.mp3'
Blood Orange has shared new single 'Essex_Honey.mp3,' expanding the immersive world of last year’s critically acclaimed album 'Essex Honey'.
The track arrives less than a year after the artist's - also known as Dev Hynes - first album in over six years became one of 2025’s most celebrated records, earning him a BRIT Award nomination and a major global tour that recently culminated in a landmark performance at Coachella.
Built around Blood Orange’s signature blend of ghostly electronics, hushed melancholy and deeply personal storytelling, 'Essex_Honey.mp3' feels like both an epilogue and a companion piece to the original album. Hynes once again draws from memories of growing up in Essex, weaving themes of grief, healing and identity into a hazy, emotionally charged soundscape.
One of the track’s most striking moments comes through its use of 'Everything Is Embarrassing' - the beloved Sky Ferreira track originally produced by Hynes himself - subtly folding his past creative eras back into the present.
Alongside the release, Hynes has also announced a fresh run of North American tour dates for 2026, continuing a huge live chapter that has already included headline shows at Brooklyn Steel, Primavera Sound and C2C Festival.
'Essex_Honey.mp3' is out now.
