Chaos In The CBD Unveil Soulful New Single ‘Maintaining My Peace’ Ahead of Debut Album
Electronic duo Chaos In The CBD have today released ‘Maintaining My Peace’, a reflective and genre-blurring single lifted from their forthcoming debut album 'A Deeper Life', out 9th May via their own label, In Dust We Trust.
A standout collaboration, the track features a laid-back verse from South London Grime MC Novelist - introduced to Chaos In The CBD’s music by his mum - and a glowing, emotive hook by legendary house vocalist Stephanie Cooke. Anchored by live instrumentation from Immanuel Simelane (bass) and Alex Cosmo Blake (guitar), the song draws clear inspiration from classic West Coast rap, channelling G-funk’s warmth while remaining grounded in the duo’s deep house roots.
“You’ll hear Nov’s voice note from LA at the start of the track,” Chaos In The CBD explain. “That moment sparked the whole journey.” The track’s soulful core is sealed by Cooke’s vocals, which they describe as “the cherry on top.”
Over the past decade, New Zealand-born, London-based brothers Louis and Ben Helliker-Hales have carved a unique path through the global underground scene, garnering over 100 million streams and widespread respect for their jazz-inflected deep house sound.
Their upcoming 14-track album, 'A Deeper Life', is set to unite their love of ambient, soul, jazz, and Balearic textures with club-ready production and heartfelt storytelling - a sonic homecoming that bridges their roots in Aotearoa with life in London.
With headline shows planned in Manchester and London during album release week (buy tickets HERE), 'A Deeper Life' is shaping up to be both a personal statement and a future dancefloor classic.
'A Deeper Life' is out now via In Dust We Trust.
