Cut Face Unveil Twisted 'Upgrade (Body Hook)' Remix

The Anglo-French duo take their own single somewhere darker ahead of London show next week.

Cut Face are getting reacquainted with their own material, and the results aren't pretty - in the best way. The duo have released 'Upgrade (Body Hook Remix)', a reworking of their April single that pushes the original's already-bleak subject matter into stranger, heavier territory.

Handled by Body Hook, one half of the duo, the remix is what he calls "a slightly schizophrenic exercise", stripping away whatever restraint the original had and leaning fully into its darker impulses. Where 'Upgrade' was already a study in numbing out through drugs and partying, this version deepens that descent into something more visceral and uncompromising, built on the same brutal-yet-atmospheric collision of garage, jungle, darkwave and punk that's come to define Cut Face's sound.

The remix lands five days ahead of a genuinely significant moment for the pair: their first ever UK live show, opening for producer and DJ 1-800 GIRLS at London's Village Underground on 30th September, an invitation that came directly from 1-800 GIRLS themselves, and one that speaks to the kind of attention Cut Face have quietly been accumulating.

That attention isn't coming out of nowhere. Cut Face - the pairing of French producer Body Hook (previously championed by Four Tet, Special Request and Annie Mac) and classically trained British vocalist Tacita Grace - released their debut EP 'You'll Never Get The Same Moment Twice' back in May.
