Mod-R and Obatalla Drop Genre-Defying Hybrid Single 'Coded'
Mod-R and Obatalla have joined forces once again for the fusion track, 'Coded'.
The pair previously linked up back in 2022 for 'No Hands' and 'Shake the Future', as part of Mod-R's EP, 'Carnegie's Brae'. Now, they're back for their first self-release with 'Coded'.
The dark and commanding new single blends UK Dubstep with experimental rap. Mod-R's heavy basslines and hip-hop drums intertwine with Obatella's layered, hypnotic vocals, which jump out as if from all edges throughout the record.
Originally produced for Obatalla's live show as Muto Major at Tramways Glasgow, the track's haunting aura carries a chilling atmosphere, immediately creating the sensory experience of an underground club.
'Coded' is a prime example of Mod-R and Obatalla's fearless experimentation and boundary-pushing sound; a perfect symbiosis of two worlds colliding.
'Coded' is out now.
