Bandcamp launches new "Listening Party" feature for albums
Bandcamp has introduced a new feature which allows artists and labels to host "listening parties" for their new releases.
According to the streaming platform's website, Listening Parties "give you a chance to share your album with your community, build excitement, and chat with fans, without the added complications that come with video."
The new feature allows artists to plan an event with a live play-through of the Bandcamp album accompanied by a live chat in which the artist and audience can participate.
"You could host a Listening Party for a pre-order to give your fans an early preview of your album, for an album that is coming out on vinyl for the first time, or to showcase an album just because," the statement continues.
"We designed Listening Parties to be as accessible as possible. These events are free - anyone with the link can tune in, and some additional interactions require a fan account (also free!). Just pick the album, choose a time, give it a brief description, and we’ll take care of the rest (though it helps to share the event on your social channels)."
Earlier this year, Bandcamp introduced a new playlist feature to its mobile app.
