Beabadoobee Plays Exclusive West London Show for Spotify's Hometown Finale
There's something fitting about beabadoobee closing out Spotify's Hometown trilogy on her own turf. Following Jorja Smith's Walsall homecoming and Nemzzz's Manchester show, the London singer-songwriter performed on Thursday 17th September at Bush Hall in front of just a few hundred of her most devoted UK fans. The top 1% of each artist's Spotify listeners were rewarded with free tickets to a night recorded specially for the streaming giant.
The setting felt less like a gig and more like a film set: hazy, nostalgic, distinctly Y2K, the kind of scene you'd expect from a coming-of-age movie. Fitting, given Bea's aesthetic has always leaned into that dreamy, analogue nostalgia.
With 'Pylon' dropping the following morning, there was a natural pull toward the new material - 'Radio' and 'Memories' got an airing, a neat bit of scene-setting for the record's release. But this was, mostly, a night for the hits. Given the crowd's superfan credentials, that tracklist made sense, even if the room's energy didn't always match the guest list's status. Cheers greeted opening chords more than sustained noise, and Bea's between-song interaction was minimal - songs often cut before their natural end, understandable given the ground she had to cover.
Still, there were standout moments. An acoustic guitar came out for 'Tired', where Bea stripped things right back to just her voice and six strings. The pace lifted again for 'She Plays Bass', which finally got fans jumping.
The night ended on 'Beaches', from Bea's last album, 'This Is How Tomorrow Moves', accompanied by a heartfelt speech about the journey from bedroom musician to big-name artist - and showed her gratitude for the fans who've stuck around since the start. A quiet, personal close to a homecoming built for the day ones.
