Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's son was named after Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky named their firstborn son after Wu-Tang Clan's RZA, the rapper confirmed on the child's first birthday (Saturday May 13).
The couple had not revealed the child’s name until Rocky celebrated his son's special day with an Instagram post captioned: “‘WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN 🤲’ HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN . RZA❤️.”
The superstar parents named their child RZA Athelston Mayers after the hip-hop legend, born Robert Fitzgerald Diggs. It seems the couple were keen to keep musical names in the family after Rocky - real name Rakim Athelaston Mayers - was named after the rapper Rakim, while his sister, Erika, was named in honour of Eric B.
Last April, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky reportedly threw a private rave-themed baby shower for RZA. A month later, Rihanna starred in the video for Rocky's 'D.M.B.'
The baby name revelation comes after it was revealed that Wu-Tang Clan will headline this year's EXIT Festival in Serbia. Known across the globe as one of - if not the - most legendary hip hop group of all time, they'll celebrate the 30th birthday of their debut release 'Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)' in Novi Sad.
