Purient Returns With Dark Electronic Single, 'Mwah'

EP of the same name slated for release on 21st November

Melbourne-based electronic artist, Purient, is back after a two year hiatus. Not only has she released the ominous, pulsating new single, 'Mwah', with an accompanying music video, but has also announced her upcoming EP of the same name, out 21st November.

The lead single from the forthcoming EP, 'Mwah' exudes a somewhat unsettling energy, intertwining melancholic chords with undulating basslines.

This tone is captured cinematically in the music video. Directed by Jamie Timony and shot by Jordan Hourigan, the visuals open to cityscape shots of Melbourne, before we follow Purient as she embarks on an unexplained outing. It's a quiet masterclass in the power of music as a compass for understanding. Purient's unnerving composition creates a foreboding atmosphere around the visuals, and influences our perception of her character.

Purient explains, ”[w]hen making ‘Mwah’, I was noticing a change in my personal growth, self-worth, and letting go of what people might think of me. The lyrical content is simple, but to me runs a little deeper.”
