The 10 Best Jazz-Influenced D'n'B Tracks, according to DJ Marky
Since the early 90’s, Brazilian selector DJ Marky has championed the drum'n'bass scene bringing his sound to all corners of the globe, including through his Innerground label. Discovered on the Brazil club circuit before heading across to the UK and establishing himself as a rave pioneer alongside the likes of Goldie, the DJ's indelible influence has stretched two decades. But despite being a certified d'n'b legend, it's clear Marky's influence goes far beyond that.
The DJ credits a huge amount of his craft to Brazilian music and funk, through to soul, disco and jazz, citing the likes of Marvin Gaye, James Brown and Milton Nascimento as early inspirations. From inheriting his parents' record collection to growing up with his older sisters' club influence when he was 10, Marky has transformed into an unmatchable selector of his time.
DJ Marky will perform at Hospitality In The Woods festival on August 19, not long after the July 21 release of his new album 'The Time Is Right'. To celebrate an exciting summer on the horizon, we sat down with the selector to run through his favourite jazz-influenced drum'n'bass bangers.
