DJ Food's live AV show at the London Planetarium

To celebrate the release of DJ Food‘’s new album, “‘The Search Engine’,” his first for eleven years (out 23rd January) on Ninja Tune, Strictly Kev and the good people of Royal Observatory Greenwich are pleased to present a bespoke AV show, made in conjunction with astronomers from of the observatory.

The show will be a bespoke Audio Visual piece using art from the DJ Food album release ‘The Search Engine,’ images from Kev’‘s own visual archive, plus a wealth of material provided by the Royal Observatory Greenwich astronomers themselves. On the 19th of January, lasting 45 minutes, the performance will be a unique, remixed version of the album with exclusive material. The whole show will be presented on the huge, hemispherical screen, a single high-resolution laser projector creating an immersive 360 degree visual environment.

DJ Food will also be collaborating on an exhibition at the Pure Evil Gallery in Shoreditch, alongside Henry Flint, presenting an exhibition of artwork from the upcoming Food album ‘The Search Engine’ and Henry Flint’s book ‘Broadcast’. DJ Food, aka Strictly Kev, has read the British sci-fi comic 2000AD, home of Judge Dredd, since he was 8 years old. He’s also been collecting original art from it for over a decade and a large proportion of his collection is the work of one man – Henry Flint.

The exhibition will run between 26 January and 12 February 2012 and feature drawings and elements used to create most of the artwork surrounding the album, as well as comic pages from Kev’s personal collection, Cooper-Mitchell photos and a limited edition postcard record made for the show. Kev’s love of psychedelic art will also be in evidence with typographic mandalas, zoetrope discs and unique splatter vinyl DJ controller records on display to complete the picture. An audio visual installation in the basement, based around the album, will also be present.
