Grouper - Water People [stream]

Grouper is the solo project of Portland-based ambient/ experimental/ noise/ acoustic artist Liz Harris. Listen to her new double-sided single, ‘Water People’, below.

Recorded at Ballroom Marfa, a non-profit gallery/studio space in Texa last spring, Grouper’s side A track Water People is a tender, fragile and hauntingly beautiful performance, which very much recalls her 2008 Type-released LP ‘Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill’, only that it comes armed with even more melodic sounds and better clarity. Side B Moving Machine is a piece of chilling, devastating and heart-wrenching soundscape that truly displays the murkiness of lo-fi, folk, and ambient. It simply takes you on a trip into a dark, disturbing world, perfectly established by those hazy guitar works and dainty, twirling piano chords.
