Jamie Isaac teams up with Nosaj Thing for the gently grooving 'Next to Me'

“I’m really trying to make music that people can actually move to..."

Jamie Isaac has long been creating brooding works of soul-meets-hip-hop. The last we heard from him was on intimate two-tracker ‘Fool’n’, a follow-up to his highly praised ‘(04:30) Idler’ album.

On a recent stint out in LA, Jamie met a likeminded musician: lo-fi beatmaker Nosaj Thing, and the pair headed into Nosaj’s home studio to make what would become a joint EP.

The first taste of the forthcoming ‘3’ is ‘Next to Me’, with Nosaj giving a textural, R&B bounce to Jamie’s lyricism, which centres around the break-up of a long-term relationship.

“I’m really trying to make music that people can actually move to,” Jamie says about ‘Next To Me’. “I love to dance myself… It was great working with someone who’d just say no – if he didn’t like my melodies he’d push back. Nosaj and I understand each other’s music, we have similar styles, and we’ve become really good friends.”

Jamie Isaac’s ‘3’ EP is out on January 31st 2020 via Marathon Artists.
