Jorja Smith reflects on her experiences with the Black Lives Matter movement on 'By Any Means'

It's the lead single from Roc Nation's upcoming 'Reprise' project...

Jorja Smith has dropped ‘By Any Means’, a new track that reflects on issues of social justice and her time at a Black Lives Matter protest.

The single is Jorja’s latest release since reworking St Germain’s smooth jazz anthem ‘Rose Rouge’ last month, and makes up the leading track from Roc Nation’s upcoming ‘Reprise’ project, poised to donate its proceeds to social justice organisations.

Cowritten and produced by Ezrah Roberts-Gray, Smith uncovers the pain and lies which has led to this moment while drawing attention to the strong sense of pride felt towards the anti-racist movement.

“The inspiration behind ‘By Any Means’ really came from going to the Black Lives Matter protest and leaving thinking, what can I do to keep this conversation going?” Smith said in a statement. “It’s not just a post on social media, it’s life.”

Details of other artists on ‘Reprise’ or a release date are yet to be announced, however, a press release stated it is an “initiative comprised of multiple artists uniting to let their voices be heard in musical protest… compiled with hopes to bring awareness to social justice issues”.

Proceeds for the project will benefit The Gathering For Justice foundation, the NACDL Foundation For Criminal Justice, the Equal Justice Initiative and the Cop Accountability Project.
