KW Griff - Bring In The Katz

With Jam City’s unbelievably good album and Girl Unit’s more recent brushes with HD, it’s undeniable that Night Slugs’ core output is getting a whole lot more…conceptual. With their Club Constructions series, they’ve been able to focus on more dancefloor-oriented material, with one release from L-Vis 1990 (more than making up for the lukewarm reception that his full-length received) and one from Lil Silva under their belt so far. For the third installment, Night Slugs have reissued what they describe as a “modern classic”. Baltimore-native KW Griff’s Bring In The Katz is a couple of years old now, but has never been pressed up on vinyl, and has certainly never gained the wider audience that it deserves. There’s no way it can be described as anything other than a bomb – a ferocious b-more break gives into a seriously heavy handclap drop, with a rough and ready vocal by the track’s compere Pork Chop demanding that Griff brings in the katz.

B-more isn’t as rife in clubland right now as it used to be, but it still has the power to make a place explode – Kingdom dropped this at Fabric over the weekend and it was bananas.
