MEYY teams up with object blue on sultry R&B club anthem 'Shut Up'

"An ode to all the heartbreakers trying to stand tall in their innocence..."

Experimental Belgian-Korean songstress MEYY joins forces with one of electronic music's most prolific talents object blue for a kaleidoscopic new dance anthem.

The club-ready track is the result of an inspiring music writing camp organised by Platoon’s ‘She Runs The Board’, ‘she said.so’ and ESEA Music, the community for the UK’s East and South East Asian music industry. Both artists came together the for a three day camp over summer and soon produced 'Shut Up'.

Speaking about the making of the new single, MEYY says: “Working with object blue was incredible. She’s so effortlessly talented and sharp and I think her deep affection and love for music is felt so thoroughly in everything she makes.”

"‘Shut Up’ is an ode to all the heartbreakers trying to stand tall in their innocence," she continues. "To all the actors and actresses who are, consciously or subconsciously, holding up the mirror while blowing smoke into your bedroom. A sleazy lullaby for a fever dream. I love that this song has tragedy and despair as well as sassy and silly bits. I think both parts are really important."

Splicing flavours of R&B, soul, pop, UK bass, dubstep and techno, 'Shut Up' maintains an authentic DIY feel while highlighting both artists' strengths.

object blue adds: “It’s really nice to work with someone who has a different skillset. MEYY improvises melodies and they’re all beautiful, all fitting to what we made."
