Premiere: MJ Cole’s ‘If Only' is 2-step at its most tear-jerking

MJ Cole is a household name in British bass music – having contributed heavily to the UK garage scene since its inception, the veteran isn’t resting on his laurels.

Following on from collaborating with Kojey Radical on the poetic ‘Soak It Up’, he's now releasing new EP ‘Foundations’, stripping things back to offer up some heady, melodic fare, with the producer returning to sampling.

The EP finds him mining the classic sounds that set his name in lights as a pioneer of the genre. ’If Only’, which we’re premiering below, tugs on the heartstrings.

MJ says: “With a nod back to the days of sifting through vinyl with the Akai sampler, 'If Only' is a colourful, mountainous expedition through filtered textures and synth-defined peaks.”

Listen exclusively below.

The track is taken from MJ Cole’s ‘Foundations’ EP, out Friday 26th October.
