Premiere: Dobie – State of Flux

Big Dada, the sister of legendary UK label Ninja Tune, have released ‘Nothing to Fear’, the debut 12” by Dobie. The brand new material from the UK producer is the first of his releases under his own name, but he’s by no means new to the business. Dobie has produced for Soul II Soul, London Posse and has remixed Björk, Massive Attack and Gangstarr, as well as grime’s most prominent, Wiley, to name just a couple. Now he’s on the musical grind again, but this time putting his own beats in the limelight on this four-track, fully instrumental piece.

As second track on the EP, State of Flux kicks in with full energy, nicely balancing house, techno and bass. Dobie’s musically background is based in hip hop, R&B, grime, and elements of these are distinguishable even in this higher tempo track.
