Ariel Pink and John Maus attended the pro-Trump riots yesterday
After anti-democratic protests in Washington DC last night turned into violent riots and a storming of the Capitol, people have been sharing alleged footage of Ariel Pink and John Maus attending the demonstrations.
A Twitter user has shared supposed evidence of “Ariel Pink John Maus and [filmmaker] Alex Lee Moyer at the Capitol today”, although the original tweet has been deleted, and there is a photograph circulating of them taken at a nearby hotel.
The footage has been re-uploaded and can be found here.
While some commenters have suggested that the pair could have been there simply to observe, Ariel Pink has previously voiced supposed Republican support. Earlier today he tweeted: “vote for trump”.
Presumably as a reaction to today’s news, ‘Cop Killer’ musician John Maus tweeted a link to an Encyclical of Pope Pius XI from 1937 that appears to condemn nationalism, but has not yet confirmed or denied his attendance at the rally.
Dummy has reached out to Ariel Pink and John Maus’s representatives for comment.
UPDATE (8/1/21): Ariel Pink said that he was “in dc to peacefully show my support for the president. i attended the rally on the white house lawn and went back to hotel and took a nap. case closed”.
