Huge archive of feminist music opens

Women's Liberation Music Archive is dedicated to remembering music by the UK's radical women.

Remember Jam Today or Cast Iron Fairies? If not then Women’s Liberation Music Archive has done half the work of finding out by offering up a comprehensive archive of women in music between 1970 and 1990, instrumental (excuse the pun) in pushing forth the era-defining Women’s Liberation movement in the UK. Offering an A-Z of information about bands, musicians and musical projects from the period, the site hopes to identify and preserve those elements of music on the margins in an ever-evolving compilation. All this hard work will culminate in a touring exhibition Music & Liberation: Women’s Liberation Music Making in the UK, 1970-1989, starting at Butetown History & Arts Centre in Cardiff, September 2nd.
